New Delhi: Global chocolate and cocoa leader Barry Callebaut has inaugurated its third chocolate manufacturing facility in India, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion in one of the world’s fastest-growing chocolate markets.
Located in Neemrana’s Ghiloth industrial area – just 120 km from Delhi – the 20,000-square-meter greenfield factory features advanced production lines for chocolate and compound products in multiple formats and includes integrated warehousing to streamline operations.

With the launch of this strategically located facility, India becomes Barry Callebaut’s largest chocolate-producing market in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) region.
Over the past five years, the company has invested over ₹500 crore (CHF 50 million) to scale its presence and manufacturing capabilities in India.
“India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world. With this new factory, Barry Callebaut is reinforcing its leadership and strengthening our ability to serve India’s dynamic food sector,” said Vamsi Mohan Thati, President, AMEA, Barry Callebaut.
Barry Callebaut: Strategic Expansion for Local Demand and Innovation
The Neemrana facility will serve as Barry Callebaut’s northern India hub, enhancing speed-to-market and supporting deeper collaboration with food manufacturers and artisans in the region.
The site complements the company’s two existing factories in Baramati, as well as its Callebaut CHOCOLATE ACADEMY Center in Mumbai, which continues to foster chocolate craftsmanship and innovation.
“This factory enables us to better serve rising demand, particularly in northern and central India,” said Dhruva Jyoti Sanyal, Managing Director, India & Southwest Asia. “India’s young population, increasing income levels, and evolving taste for premium chocolates are key growth drivers.”

India’s Chocolate Market Shows Premium Growth Potential
India’s chocolate consumption remains under 200 grams per capita annually, but changing consumer preferences are fueling rapid growth in the premium and high-quality chocolate segment.
Barry Callebaut is poised to capture this opportunity by deepening its manufacturing footprint and innovation infrastructure across the country.
The company also recently inaugurated its Global Business Services Hub in Hyderabad, reinforcing its end-to-end operations in India.
Today, Barry Callebaut employs more than 400 people in India, operating through a growing network of manufacturing sites, innovation hubs, and customer engagement centers.
